The assets of the Historical Archive of Istituto Luigi Sturzo includes the following archives which, in line with current archive standards, are made available to the public once the suitable consultation instruments are in place.

Giovanni Gronchi archive (1904-1978)

The papers of the eminent statesman concern the foundation of the Italian People’s Party, the clandestine activity of the Catholics, and the period until Gronchi’s election as President of the Republic of Italy. The archive also preserves photographic material and press releases.

Piero Malvestiti archive (1930-1964)

The archive documents the activity of the Catholic anti-fascist in prison, in the Partisan Republic of Ossola, and the fervour of the post-war reconstruction period.

Giovanni Marcora archive (1943-1983)

The documentation pertains to Marcora’s political activity, from his first role in the regional and provincial bodies of Democrazia Cristiana in Lombardy, and his role in the party and the Base faction, his work in Parliament, and as Minister for Agriculture and Minister of Industry.

Maria Eletta Martini archive (1960-2000)

The documentation regards numerous national and provincial congresses of Democrazia Cristiana, an initiative of the women’s Party movement, the family law reform in 1975, private and state school problems and the teaching of religion in schools.

Filippo Meda archive (1831-1949)

The papers pertain to the political activity of Filippo Meda, one of the main exponents of the Italian Catholic movement, a member of the Italian People‘s Party, Minister of Finance (1917-1919) and Treasury Minister (1920-1921) of the Giolitti Government.
