From Monday the 9th of December to Thursday the 12th, the 20 trainers selected in Italy, Sweden, Estonia and Bulgaria will take part to the second training course organized during the European Project KVALUES.

After having participated to the first week of training in Wrexham, in October 2013, the trainers will go to Marl, in Germany, to learn about the facilitation of storytelling workshops. During these four days, the sessions have been tailored to give them the best possible opportunities to develop their skills and to be able to run the piloting activities from January to April 2014.

The main body of the training course, hosted by the Grimme Institute in cooperation with the Coleg Cambria of Wrexham, consists of these 6 elements:

1:    What makes a good facilitator?  Including: hands on or hands off?, general teaching skills, listening and feeding back, giving advice, sticking to the brief, time and budget, technical skills.

2:    ‘Micro Circle’ facilitation. How to manage the environment, participants and activities within a limited time frame.

Method:            12 Story circle sessions with a carousel of roles for all trainers in the group.

When:               Tuesday

3:    Planning, recruitment and delivery. How to manage a DS workshop, starting with a blank piece of paper.

Method:            group activities led by Annette Schneider (Grimme Institute, DE)

When:               Wednesday

4:    Digital Content; the ethics, the law, the facilitator and the storyteller. Including: legal issues, copyright and consent, style and form, ownership and authorship.

Method:            collaborative learning session led by Steve Bellis (Coleg Cambria, UK) and Antonia Liguori (Istituto Luigi Sturzo, IT)

5:    How to manage technical sessions 1: Sound recording and editing. Best ways to facilitate voice over recording and sound editing in less than perfect environments.

6:    How to manage technical sessions 2: Editing the story together. Making best use of computer equipment and video editing software to make Digital Curricular Stories in a group
