The focus group on the validation of competences acquired in formal and non-formal settings was the first activity programmed in the research phase of the European Project KVALUES – Key competences: Validating Adult Learners’ eDucational ExperienceS.

At Luigi Sturzo Institute, 12 experts, from the education and training sector (Local government, Assessment centres, Vocational Schools, Universities, Specialist recognition centres), business sector (Business managers, Human resource managers, Trade union representatives), Voluntary sector and Qualification Authorities, have confronted each others about the themes listed below:

  • National experiences and best practices
  • The process of validation of competences acquired in formal and non-formal settings
  • Mapping of competences to be validated
  • The effectiveness of self-evaluation and the possible use of digital storytelling as a tool to guide the adult to self-evaluate their competences

The next step will be a quantitative research through a survey to relevant stakeholders that anticipates trends and needs in the cultural and social sector about validation of informal and non-formal competences asking specifically about the KVALUES approach.
